Design Wall Monday

Dotty Dresden Plate
While on retreat, I machine appliqued the plates onto their background squares. It was fun to see the reaction from the other quilters at the retreat. It is just such a fun cheerful quilt and can't wait to finish it.

When I got home from the retreat, the blocks were squared up to 16 1/2 inches and then sewn together. Now it is time for borders.

Also, while on retreat I worked on Bonnie Hunter's "Blue Ridge Beauty." Only have 51 more four-patches to sew. Would you believe I ran out of enough cut strips to finish sewing the four-patches?? Here I thought I was well prepared for this retreat. All the pieces are in the Wal-Mart cake carrier that was discussed on Bonnie's site. I love these carriers. It holds all the pieces for a large quilt with room to spare.

Getting ready for Bonnie's "Easy Street" mystery, has kept me busy for the last day. Here are most of the fabris that have been pulled. Can you feel the excitement building?? November 23 can't come too soon.

Check out http://quiltville.blogspot.com/p/easy-street-mystery.html to see what all the excitement is about.

I still need to finish pulling my white with black fabrics. The fabrics look so fun together.

Check out Judy's Patchwork Times, http://www.patchworktimes.com/2012/11/05/design-wall-monday-november-5-2012/ to see what others are working on.

    1. I had to watch everyone finishing up their RRCB mystery year before last. It was fun to watch but I so wanted to join in. Enjoy the fun. (Smile - are you sure you are going to be able to resist??) LOL

  2. Good going on the retreat projects; both the Dresden Plate and the BRB look fine! I set my BRB aside and you are encouraging me to get back to it.

  3. I love your Dresden Plate. It is such a happy looking quilt. You are way ahead of me for getting ready for Easy Street. I have not done one of her mysteries, so I am wanting to do this one. The colors are right up my alley. I had intentions of waiting for the reveal before deciding, but all these beautiful colors are drawing me in. Did you have all of these in your stash?

    1. Hi Dar,

Thanks for stopping by!! I did have most of the fabrics in my stash. Had to add a gray; added some white with black (just cause), one piece of blue, and two pieces of green. Really didn't need to add anything but the gray, but you know how it is ----- VBG

Orca Bay was the first mystery of Bonnie's I have done. Enjoyed it a lot. Hope you join us all for ES.

  4. Great fabrics for the mystery! Did I see your picture with that stripe fabric, maybe on the yahoo site? Is it for the binding? I loved it when I saw the picture and now I found you here! Great choice...I looked for something similar recently while in the Lancaster area! :)

    1. Hi Michelle, There is not quite enough of the stripe in the photo for the binding, but I did find another stripe in my stash that has the colors and there is enough for the binding. It sure is amazing what I find when I shop the stash!!! VBG Have a great Thanksgiving and thanks stopping by. Yes - there was a picture on the Quiltville digest group also.
