BooHoo!! The Minnesota Vikings lost. Everytime they get so close and then lose it. Each time this happens, we begin to hope for next year. Oh well! It is only a game.

On December 31st, my youngest daughter got engaged to a very nice man. They are so cute together. Brenda is 39 and Scott is 41. Neither have been married and they have waited a long time to find someone. His only drawback is that he is from Wisconsin and a Green Bay Packers fan. It is fun to have the border battle going on during football season.

I joined a new club at Colorz Quilt Shop in Brainerd, MN. Colorz just reopened under new ownership. The club is "Farm Girl Vintage." It is not my usual type of fabric, so I just had to purchase some new stuff because I really liked the look. Makes me think of a combination of 30's and 40's.

Cute  fabrics purchased for club.

Book required for club.
After club, it was fun to go sew at Irene's house. Another friend, Maureen, joined us for sewing also. It was a fun afternoon of eating, sewing, and talking. We are going to try to get together for sewing each month when I drive up to Brainerd for club.

Step one of Allietare (Bonnie Hunter's 2015 mystery) is completed and I have started on step two. Still need to finish piecing Grand Illusion (2014 mystery). I hope to get a lot done on both of these quilts while house and dog sitting for my daughter that lives in Fargo ND. This always becomes private retreat time. Eat, sew, read, sleep whenever I want. Wonderful!

Part one of Allietare
We had sad news on Saturday morning. My mother-in-law passed away. She made it to the tremendous age of 103 years.

Hoping to catch up with what everyone has been doing. Make sure to hop over to Patchwork Times to see what others are doing.

  1. Sorry to hear about your MIL, hugs and peace to you all through this time. I bought the FG Vintage book but yet to collect fabric for it as it is also out of my "usual" range of fabrics. Yours are lovely!

    1. Thank you for the visit and kindly comment regarding MIL.
I am so anxious to get started on the Farm Girl blocks. We are going to do four blocks per month for club. You will need to post when you get your fabric selection started.
      Hugs :>)

  2. Congratulations on the upcoming nuptials for your daughter! Very sorry, Beth, to hear about your MIL. It sounds like she lived a very full life, based on that 103 years! Your new fabrics are very pretty! And I can commiserate ... the Redskins had a very disappointing weekend, too! ;)

Aw - Football. It is a love/hate relationship sometimes. Hopefully the new stadium will encourage them to bigger and better things. Sorry about the Redskins!

  3. Such a time of ups and downs for you! My MN daughter married a Green Bay fan from WI too, so I know all about that border battle. Lots of good-natured ribbing. Though I do know that when the Packers are playing I can have a nice long phone conversation with her while he watches the game. So sorry about your MIL. Hugs.

    1. The Vikings sure have had their ups and downs. The border battle is a lot of fun, only I think the daughter is maybe a turn-coat. We'll have to wait and see! LOL
Thank you for the sympathy and visit!

  4. So sorry about your MIL. At least you have some good news to help you get through the tough. Looks like you've got a good start on Allietare. Good luck finishing up Grand Illusion. I got mine done, but it was a slog there at the end. Enjoy all your stitching time.

    1. Hi Kate, Thanks for dropping by. All went well with the funeral and relatives are all heading back home. Now I am in Fargo house/dog sitting for DD while they gone. I finished some cancer bags yesterday and am currently working on my "Buck Block" project from last summer.
Hugs and have a great week,
