I did get some projects done but only because I was under a time constraint. Hoping that 2022 will be better. At the beginning of all the shut-downs in 2020 for Covid, I did get some projects done. Forgot to take pictures of some of the projects that did get completed. </p><p>Lets see if I can find some pictures of projects completed in 2021.</p><p>1. This is a quilt for Quilts of Valor that I quilted.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEilFIwIAw_lRPxA7112Ky9ukof65_9dAcBRRO4sA9-rbL6ScJS8dNHLVjm_BUhbXAvQqDcQhUaixmfXkRjVsc2R1RcER-pjXuygJ56WfAE5VNAFxPiWjEXxh65tGd_4149uY76gTDqMadrDWhLfIgFsGLcmZxHqzY3_nQvJJwhp03B5NRsgSLWD9-eC=s2832" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2832" data-original-width="2832" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEilFIwIAw_lRPxA7112Ky9ukof65_9dAcBRRO4sA9-rbL6ScJS8dNHLVjm_BUhbXAvQqDcQhUaixmfXkRjVsc2R1RcER-pjXuygJ56WfAE5VNAFxPiWjEXxh65tGd_4149uY76gTDqMadrDWhLfIgFsGLcmZxHqzY3_nQvJJwhp03B5NRsgSLWD9-eC=s320" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p>2. This is the "Tools of the Trade" bag. The pattern is "ByAnnie". It holds the 18" by 24" mat, lots of supplies and rulers. Like everyone else, the Covid Virus has seriously limited activities. There were four quilt retreats that I attended which had limited attendance. It was so nice to see friends and sew with them.</p><p>Here are a few of the projects that were completed:</p><table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: left;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: left;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_kCBncgBKQz-em4oAzT9gaxd4L2apoMW7iqudB59CExg95_y6dRSl99rIYVmXNEoexzCIGjaKtn39s5ElZy4b8LKlJujYKL3T-l9I0PSOqHU3HHkMKE6L4muswuO0U0bUbGhNFo88eEs/s2048/SAM_1799a.jpg" style="clear: left; I believe 2020 will be a great year.<br />
<br />
In November, held the second quilt retreat with both my daughters. Two other attendees had their daughters as well. It is so fun to have the two generations at the retreat. They have such different interests.<br />
<br />
Finished a "Sisters Choice" quilt and my daughter, Natalie, gave it to a good friend who supported her through a very rough year. She found out what wonderful friends she has.<br />
<br />
I just finished a great book called "Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons" by Lorna Landvik. It was such a great read about the friendships formed over thirty plus years of members of a book club. There was humor, as well as, sad and trying moments. Well worth the read.<br />
<br />
Cleaned out my 1 1/2" strip bin by piecing a Basket Weave quilt top. The left overs I bagged up and donated. It is time to start cleaning out some of the stash, especially fabrics I know I will never use.<br />
<br />
This year the plan is to keep up with entries to the blog. We'll see. In the meantime, hope all is well and that 2020 will be a fabulous year!<br />

It was a terrific time with a group of good friends. We retreat together 3 - 4 times per year. Needless to say, it was interesting getting back to Minnesota due to the snow storm. We ended up staying overnight in Clear Lake, Iowa on Thursday evening and heading for home Friday morning. Of course stops were made at shops along the way. We stopped at SR Harris in South Minneapolis. It was my first time to this location. Definitely need to have a plan when going there to shop.<br />
<br />
At retreat I worked on a quilt top that I won as a door prize (Cambridge Square- pictured below) at our Ripple River Quilt Guild in Aitkin, MN. Needless to say, I needed to win a whole big quilt like I needed another hole in the head (Very Big Grin--), so I decided to cut all the pieces right away and work on it at retreat. It will make a good donation in Camp Knutson by Crosslake, Minnesota.<br />

<br />
<br />
So far this year I have been working on UFO's and hope to make progress. There are a lot of tops to finish quilting, as well as, tops ready to be put together. Have a couple of Bonnie Hunter quilts where the blocks are all pieced and just ready to be put together.<br />
<br />
I finished piecing a top started several years ago at a February retreat I attended. It is called "Black, White, & Bright." It still needs to be quilted and bound. Hoping to get it completed this year!!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Completely finished another fun quilt that is so nostalgic. It reminds me of the early years of marriage when we went out into the swamp and cut Christmas trees for us and my husbands family.<br />

It has been a good feeling to start finishing up some of the quilt projects around the house. Another quilt that I quilted for my "Ladies of the Lake" quilt group has been moved out of the house. Some other deserving member (LOL) gets to do the binding.<br />

12. Two Seasonal table runners that are pieced but need the applique' attached & then quilted.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
There are a lot more UFO's but these were twelve that I really would like to get done in 2019.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I did have some completions for 2018:</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This is a quilt for my son, Byron, for his birthday in May. The center is a digital print.</div>
<div>
<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMHDQAh-yRO0_IX7-QUo2NvYLqPLCtBMHhnHvbFeu-y4guvEdMpPUbkVIFE4EdwVFrS-iVVVMX0aER5WwyLFjICewKmYuCAkNS9xjr73rCmq83OLfn3oYJMOl9GfWBjcou5-ENdDWvYTA/s1600/SAM_0864a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1320" data-original-width="1415" height="298" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMHDQAh-yRO0_IX7-QUo2NvYLqPLCtBMHhnHvbFeu-y4guvEdMpPUbkVIFE4EdwVFrS-iVVVMX0aER5WwyLFjICewKmYuCAkNS9xjr73rCmq83OLfn3oYJMOl9GfWBjcou5-ENdDWvYTA/s320/SAM_0864a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This quilt is a memory quilt for my new SIL's parents. I utilized fabric that had been from his grandmother for background and border. The pictures were from both sides of the family.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjB8yM0Hao5O5nYwQlxgoFHmOE84OwBC3xA-VVQKAfRlc6IOBx1GuVAvjERSI9tKKqZxaX1Iqr9TbgleAstKOiQoMwHQvYyjHMqizckN7XnIqu00SLmQhM-Aqkkn5cM0nQ58KVeTui-CG8/s1600/SAM_1022a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1114" data-original-width="1042" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjB8yM0Hao5O5nYwQlxgoFHmOE84OwBC3xA-VVQKAfRlc6IOBx1GuVAvjERSI9tKKqZxaX1Iqr9TbgleAstKOiQoMwHQvYyjHMqizckN7XnIqu00SLmQhM-Aqkkn5cM0nQ58KVeTui-CG8/s320/SAM_1022a.jpg" width="299" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
For 2019, I need to get in the habit of blogging. This is my journal and it helps me keep track of completions.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

BOM and AardvarkSorry, couldn't resist saying "SKOL" I am waiting in nervous anticipation for the Vikings/Eagles game to start.<br />
<br />
While waiting for game time, I am cutting some more pieces for the borders of my Journey's End quilt. Since this was a BOM and the fabrics were included, it takes longer to cut all those pieces from the kit fabrics then if it was a true scrappy quilt. I have a lot of scraps already cut or strips in the correct dimensions.<br />
<br />
Last Tuesday at Country Fabrics, I started the HandiQuilter Ruler of the Month. Received the first ruler (Pillbox), now there must be a quilt I can use it on. Right now I have a back for a Tula Pink quilt loaded on the frame and have already decided how I am going to quilt it.<br />
<br />
At Colorz Quilt Shop in Brainerd, they have started a stash BOM using the desk calendar "Inspiring Stitches" by Heartland Heritage. It is a twelve month program. Looks like fun and I think I am going to start it but I have to use only my own stash. Sounds like a plan. LOL<br />

Last time I was a Grubers Quilt Shop in St. Cloud, MN, I couldn't resist the following Aardvark pattern. Thought it would be a good cushion for when people end up sitting on the floor due to a shortage of places to sit. Have to admit, I adore most everything that Pam makes.<br />

My youngest daughter, Brenda, was married September 2, 2017. Since I am not at all biased, I think they are such a cute couple. The new son-in-law, Scott, is from Wisconsin and is a Green Bay Packer fan in Viking territory. For Christmas I could not resist having a little fun at his expense and sewed him a "Packer Crying Pillow." Not sure he appreciated his new MIL. LOL<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Since Brenda received vintage china as a wedding gift, I thought Scott should receive something that he would enjoy. Couldn't resist making him a deer quilt, since he is such a hunter/fisher person.<br />

The holidays are done and the house is getting back in order after our Christmas/New Years weekend. So I feel like doing some "New Beginnings." Over the last year and a half there have been many changes and so much going on. Blogging (which is my on-line journal) has been severely neglected and it is so easy to forget all the completions and happenings.<br />
<br />
For 2018, the plan is to complete 10 UFO's. I am not going to list them because there are so many and it is nice to have the freedom to complete any thing that inspires me.<br />
<br />
There are new projects that would be fun to start. After all, a person needs new challenges to keep us interested. Also, I am still in the stage of meeting new people since our move to the Aitkin MN area.<br />
<br />
Looking forward to a lot of fun in 2018, hope you will join me on my journey over the next year.<br />

Drove to Fargo, ND on Friday. It was a beautiful drive and on the way I stopped at Red Pine Quilt Shop in Detroit Lakes. The quilt shop is a nice one and they have a good selection of fabrics. Friday afternoon my daughter Natalie and I shopped for decorations for Brenda's wedding shower. Brenda is my youngest daughter and she is getting married in September. Natalie and I spent Saturday looking through some fun shops in Fargo and had a nice relaxing day. Sunday morning I headed back home.<br />
<br />
I attended a retreat from Monday, April 17th to Thursday, April 20th in Avon, MN. This is a group that retreats together three times a year. We have such a fun time, Our group has come up with a name: Rippin' Good Stitchers. <br />

She was so much fun to listen to. While she doesn't have the sewing background that many of my generation have, she wasn't afraid to dive in and make a quilt. Yahoo, for the younger quilters! Love seeing what they are up to.<br />

At the last retreat attended, I pieced ten of the blocks for Kim Diehl's "Journey's End" BOM. Normally civil war type of fabrics are not my go to fabrics, but I liked the pattern. I have been cutting out more of the blocks for my next retreat. They are 9 1/2" square. The little quilt blocks in the side of the house are 4 1/2" square. There will be a total of 25 blocks when completed.<br />

LOL I finished a quilt for " Be There But Don't Be Square " challenge at my guild, Pinetree Patchworkers, of Brainerd, MN. Members took a batch of squares home and were to bring back a quilt using a shape different than a square. I decided to use the largest 60 degree triangle that could be cut from the 6" squares I took home. Some of the squares were pieced and I used them just the way they were sewn. The center of the quilt went together very fast and I decided to call the quilt, "Scrappy Hexies."<br />

The border for the quilt took way too long. The leftovers of the 6" squares were pieced together for smaller 60 degree triangles to use in the border. Amazingly, it didn't take a lot of adjustment to get the borders to fit.<br />

Couldn't decide what to use for binding. Finally decided to use a white and black stripe. Quilted it with curved lines inside the triangles.<br />

As I look back at photos from the last year, it is amazing how much has changed. In July 2016 we moved only 50 miles but it seems like a huge distance due to the lifestyle change. We are now up in the Brainerd lakes area of Minnesota. We downsized a lot but the way the house is laid out, we do not feel like it is smaller. Hubby likes it a lot up here as much as I do. He plays cards almost everyday and in between he does some fishing.<br />
<br />
The house we now live in allows me to have all my sewing/quilting on one level and there is a sitting area for friends to come and sew with me. My longarm machine is on the same level as well. I feel so completely spoiled!!<br />

2017 has been wonderfully busy. In January and February, I was able to attend three retreats. It is such a nice way to socialize and get a lot of sewing done. One of the retreats is a group that gets together three times a year and we have a blast. (Doesn't it look like it?) We did our own photo booth on one of the days.<div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">On December 31st, my youngest daughter got engaged to a very nice man. They are so cute together. Brenda is 39 and Scott is 41. After club, it was fun to go sew at Irene's house. Another friend, Maureen, joined us for sewing also. It was a fun afternoon of eating, sewing, and talking. We are going to try to get together for sewing each month when I drive up to Brainerd for club.<br />

Step one of Allietare (Bonnie Hunter's 2015 mystery) is completed and I have started on step two. Still need to finish piecing Grand Illusion (2014 mystery). I hope to get a lot done on both of these quilts while house and dog sitting for my daughter that lives in Fargo ND. This always becomes private retreat time. Eat, sew, read, sleep whenever I want. May it be a very quilty year for all my quilter friends.<br />
<br />
Have you ever had a year that seemed like a lost year? Well, that is the way 2015 was. For 2016, I hope to accomplish more and communicate more. There are so many groups that I would like to join, but this year the goal is to finish more of the UFOs that I have. We will see what the year brings.<br />
<br />
The best to everyone for 2016.<br />

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The Minnesota Quilt show was held in Duluth this year. Since I rode the bus from Gruber's Quilt Shop to the show, it was a fun day with many friends and acquaintances. A week after the Minnesota Show, Brainerd Pinetree Patchworkers had their quilt show. I always like to attend their show. They have some very talented quilters.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">It has been a busy month. Five days were spent in Cedar Rapids, Iowa for the Machine Quilters Showcase and I was able to attend some fabulous classes for machine quilting ideas. Even won a teachers demo sample in Dusty Farrell's class. Jodi Robinson did a great job of showing simple ideas for contemporary quilts and Jamie Wallen is just such a great instructor. My head was overflowing with ideas.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">During the last snowstorm, I sewed a "Classmate" case, designed by Atkinson Designs. It will be a nice little case for my hand work to travel with me. I was suppose to take a class to make the case, but the drive was so bad that I turned around and came back home. Since I had done so much prep work for sewing the case, I just went ahead and finished making it. It was a fun project.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I really hadn't intended to add six yards of regular fabric. The description online said it was canvas and I intended to cover a chair in the sewing room and make some other accessories. When it arrived, the fabric was regular quilting weight. Guess I will use it anyway but it won't be as sturdy. The pattern is cute and sewing related.</span></div>

To see more of their designs, click on the links. It is so nice to see younger ladies coming along in the quilt world. Some of us that started out as young quilters are getting a lot of "wisdom & maturity" under our belt! ;>) Here are a few of the projects they showed:</span></div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">It has been such wonderful weather in Minnesota this week. It was 40 degrees the other day. Went on a couple of outings with Hubby since it was such awesome temps and "sunshine." Sunshine has been sadly lacking for a long time this winter. I feel for everyone in the bad weather areas, especially since we have been having such mild weather. </span></div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Only attended one quilting event this week. On Monday, we had Sew-Sew Monday at the LQS. There was a fun quilt show during lunch time. Two of the ladies, Bonita and Mary, had each bought three yards of the same fabric. They challenged each other to make a quilt using the fabric and keep it secret from each other. Well, on Monday they brought their completed quilts. Oh, how different they are and how much fun to see how they utilized the same fabric.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I spent a lot of the week cutting out all of Bonnie Hunter's "Grand Illusion". Since I will be going on retreat, it is nice to have the whole thing cut and ready to sew. All the pieces are separated with directions into the five parts so that I do not get them mixed up. Wouldn't it be nice if I could get all the pieces sewn during retreat?</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Did not finish any projects this week but did purge and donate one UFO. It was a hand applique project started about 15 years ago. I donated five completed blocks, fabric, and book with patterns to a very nice friend who took it off my hands. WooHoo -- one project that will no longer guilt me because it is not completed. </span></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">On my way to a good start for 2015. I had a problem finding fabric for the last border on Celtic Solstice, but finally found some and it was on sale. There was just enough left on the bolt for both the border and the binding. So I get to report some fabric in and out in the same week. Course, 3/4 of a yard added was just a good rust color that was on special and is used to enhance the stash! LOL</span><br />

There are so many UFO's to do but I have identified four to finish for the first quarter.<br />
<br />
1. Jelly Roll Quilt - needs to be quilted<br />
