Okay -- So I have been procrastinating at sewing the last border on my "Dotty Dresden Plate" quilt. Also, it would be nice to report some yardage used. Decided to just get the job done. On Monday, I worked putting the last border on and thought I would be done. Hummmm - Didn't work out that way!!! When I laid the quilt out, it was like it had DIED!!! It was booooring!!! BooHoo -- I didn't like my quilt anymore.... The edges just dropped off the face of the earth... It was all washed out. The colors did not appear to be as vibrant.
Well, guess it was time to get creative. I did not want to completely rip the border off, so I started trying out different options. Finally decided to add extra plates around the edges and another border of black fabric. That did it for me. Here is the finished top. I like it much better. It is 93.5" x 109.5". It grew with the addition of another border. Now it just needs to get quilted. We'll see how long before that happens!! LOL

ReplyDeleteHey Dee Dee, Thank you!! This is a quilt that I plan to keep for myself. TeeHee - I might share with Hubby!
DeleteVery bright and pretty! And that last border makes it all Pop!
ReplyDeleteHi Judy, Thank you stopping by and liking the quilt. Sometimes there are extra "design opportunities." LOL
DeleteIt is just wonderful.....
ReplyDeleteOh Linda, I am so glad you like it. It is just such a happy quilt.
DeleteWow!!! I'll even say it backwards... Wow!!! It's just simply gorgeous Beth. I love it more every time I see it :*) I still say I may have to be a copycat and make one of my own someday.
ReplyDeleteHey, go for it. It would be a complement. I have been asked to do a class on it. Probably next fall.
DeleteThose extra Dresden plates really do the trick! How are you going to quilt it?
ReplyDeleteWill stitch in the ditch around the blades of the plates, then do some echo quilting around the plates. The black centers will maybe be a spiral design. Intend to do a grid design on point at all of the seam intersections. Probably do feathers in the white border areas. The rest I'm not sure of.
DeleteThank you for taking stopping by and asking about the quilting.
Totally awesome! It's beautiful! You have such a great sense of color. I'd love to see it when you finish it.
